Knowledge Bowl
Knowledge Bowl is not happening during the 2020-21 school year due to COVID-19. It will resume in the fall.
Overview
Cretin-Derham Hall Knowledge Bowl is a team-based trivia competition activity. CDH has a rich and successful tradition in Knowledge Bowl: we consistently have teams advance to the Metro Region finals and have had teams make the state meet as well. We even have a couple of state championships.
How it Works
At meets students are in teams of 4-5. Following an initial written round they compete in verbal buzz-in rounds against two additional teams per round. Each buzz-in round consists of 45 questions covering literally any topic imaginable.
After students buzz in they have 15 seconds to confer with their teammates before answering. It gets really competitive!
The Season
Practices start sometime in mid-late October. The main competition season is in January through early March with the post season lasting through early April. There are three Metro Region meets on Tuesday afternoons/evenings that qualify individual teams of students for the post season. In addition there are usually several invitational meets that generally take place on Saturdays. This is the CDH K-Bowl calendar for the year. (link to: calendar page – Sharon has the info)
Participating
Knowledge Bowl is open to any student at CDH. You don’t need to have any experience, and you don’t need to be at the top of your class either. Just come have fun and show off what you know! The teams practice on Monday and Thursday afternoons from 2:45-3:45 in the choir room starting in October.
