October 3, 2024
The 106th Annual JROTC Fall Review Ceremony took place on October 2 at Wingerd Field, commemorating the first public march of the Corps of Cadets during the November 1918 Thanksgiving Day Parade. The event also marked the official induction of new cadets into the Raider Brigade Corps. A select few were recognized for their outstanding early contributions.
The Raider Brigade now includes 260 cadets, representing members of a wide range of school activities such as athletics, band, theater, choir, and Student Council.
Cadet Colonel Jeremiah Thom '25 served as the Host Commander for the parade, while Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Grace McSherry '25 commanded the troops. During his address, Cadet Colonel Thom emphasized the importance of welcoming new members into the JROTC program. He praised the enthusiasm of the 9th grade cadets and their early engagement, stating, “From day one, we provide opportunities for new students to be involved in all that we do, and this year’s class is already making a positive mark.” Thom also highlighted the integral role JROTC plays in leadership and service, both within the school and the broader community.
Colonel Joe Scrocca, Senior Army Instructor, acted as the Reviewing Officer, conducting an inspection of the cadets alongside Cadet Colonel Thom. The inspection showcased the cadets’ discipline, teamwork, and leadership.
