2017 Fall Blood Drive: An Opportunity To Save a Life
Emma Hamilton'19 and Karissa Tschida'19, Student Co-Chairs
December 1, 2017
The Student Council Service Committee sponsored our annual Fall Blood Drive with Memorial Blood Center on December 1.
For our December drive, we had 185 whole blood donors, 36 double red donors, and164 volunteers. The blood drive is primarily organized by a select group of students of the Service Committee of Student Council that is advised by Mrs. Patty Murray and Mrs. Suzanne Engel Zobitz'80. The vice-presidents of the Service Committee, Therese Mellum'18, and Kerry Schneeman'18 played a huge role in making this blood drive a success as well.
CDH is usually the top high school in Minnesota for the number of blood units per year. However, we lost to Wayzata last year by only 4 units! This year we are working hard to reclaim our title. Considering that Wayzata is a much larger school than CDH, we are still very proud of our accomplishments and the number of students that continue to show interest in the blood drive.
We love working with Memorial Blood Centers because they are easy to work with, organized, passionate, positive, and genuinely love what they do. We love how the Blood Drive brings our community together. Many students that are eligible to donate choose to donate, as well as teachers, parents, and other surrounding community members.
Thank you to everyone who donated and volunteered at the December Blood Drive. You are truly life savers!
