1960s
Members of the Class of 1965, spouses, and friends gathered to volunteer at Feed My Starving Children in Eagan on January 11, 2018. The group packaged 17,928 meals – enough to feed 49 children for one full year!
1970s
Jim Landwehr '79 has published his second memoir and fourth book, The Portland House: A 70's Memoir, on Electio Publishing. It is also available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble online. He is currently working on a memoir about his days at Cretin.
Jim will be signing copies and reading from his book at Subtext Books in downtown St. Paul on March 10, 2018, from 7 to 8 p.m.
1980s
Steve Walsh ’85 is the new quarterbacks' coach for the CFL Saskatchewan’s Roughriders. Read more.
1990s
Tennessee football head coach Jeremy Pruitt announced the hiring of Chris Weinke ’90 as the Volunteers' running backs coach. Read more.
Frank Rogers ’99 has completed his M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Victoria University of Wellington, graduating “with distinction” (the equivalent of summa cum laude in the New Zealand university system). Frank and his family are living in Shanghai, where he works as a developmental editor for EF Education First.
2000s
Leo Jackson ’01 has served as a volunteer youth football coach for the last eight years. In January, St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter surprised Jackson with two Super Bowl tickets. The Super Bowl Host Committee partners with the NFL to provide free tickets to shine a spotlight on community service. A CDH student nominated Jackson for the honor.
Joe Mauer ’01 and wife Maddie (Bisanz) Mauer '01 visited Cretin-Derham Hall in January and celebrated with students by having lunch in Saul Hall on campus. After lunch, the Mauers spent time answering questions about CDH life when they were students.
Anne Rogers ’04 completed her MFA in Sculpture and Extended Media from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016. Last autumn she was awarded a seven-month fellowship at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod.
Defenseman Ryan McDonagh '07, a former captain for the New York Rangers, is now on the Tampa Bay Lightning roster.
Mark Alt '10, a defenseman, was waived by the Philadelphia Flyers and acquired by the Colorado Avalanche.
Next year marks the 25th anniversary since the creation of the Lillian Theater. The anniversary planning committee met on January 28. Ideas were shared, memories noted, and laughs were abundant. Planning Committee Members: Ali Franklin Hourigan ’04, Katie Kreitzer (CDH theater director), Aaron Cook ’00, Chris Hill ’01 (CDH theater assistant), Anne Romens ’02, Elijah Heggernes ’15, Charlie Clayton-Wilson ’97, and Bob Galligan ’06.
Note: the public is invited to attend the first event to celebrate the anniversary: the Alumni Improv Show on Friday.
