Asian Culture Club is a new club at CDH this year. The purpose of the club is to spread knowledge of Asian cultures and to give both international students and local students more chances to know about each other. During the learning process, students can broaden their horizons and find their interests. In addition, students can also make more friends. It is also a great chance for international students to communicate with native speakers and help them adapt to new surroundings more quickly. Furthermore, the club can act as a platform for leadership cultivation of an active and thoughtful group.
The club will start with making exhibition boards with some unifying themes, such as Chinese Kung fu or Cheongsam. The boards will be displayed in a location that CDH students pass by every day. The exhibition board will be replaced by a new one with a new theme every fifteen days. The new themes will be determined by vote or survey inside CDH. During the preparation of the next exhibition board, club members will do some publicity, such as putting up posters or making trailers, to attract attention.
Down the road, the club plans to offer interesting cultural practice opportunities. For example, the club may teach students how to make dumplings, how to make and fly kites, how to use chopsticks, and more. These activities will help students learn about Asia in the form of games, presentations, and assembles. The club also plans to set up a website and app to post information and event notifications to help students learn Asian cultures and to inform students more conveniently.
We hope more students can join the ACC! It will be a really wonderful experience to learn about different cultures and make friends.
