Black History Month Assembly Showcased Stories and Talent

A moving and impactful Black History Month Assembly was held on February 13 in recognition of Black History Month. An array of artists performed for students, faculty, and staff. Several members of the CDH community were specially featured.
Linda Johnson’18 and Safeyav Anderson’18 shared essays celebrating why they are proud to be black women.
Renowned poet Stephanie Marie Booker shared two of her thought-provoking poems.
Thomasina Petrus brought people to their feet after an amazing medley of songs originally performed by Billie Holiday, Bess Smith, and Louis Armstrong.
Members of our CDH Choir provided backup during a stirring solo from Emmanuel Tommy-Monrovia'20.
The talented Blessed Saintz Dance Ministry from the Pilgrim Baptist Church dance group performed twice for the school. CDH student Robyn Tisdale'20 is a member of the troupe.
