CDH Announces the Inaugural VentureNEXT Entrepreneurship Prize

December 11, 2024

Cretin-Derham Hall is proud to launch the VentureNEXT Entrepreneurship Prize, empowering our student entrepreneurs to pitch their innovative ideas, gain real-world experience, and compete for funding to launch their businesses or support their education in entrepreneurship.

Loosely modeled after “Shark Tank,” students will build a complete business plan and make a pitch for funding.  The official CDH Pitch Competition will occur on May 22, 2025.

“This unique initiative at CDH will be a distinctive opportunity for our students,” noted Anne Dougherty, Innovation and Entrepreneurial teacher.  “This type of business or entrepreneurial contest does not currently exist at other Catholic high schools and we are thrilled to offer this competition for the first time this year to fuel the entrepreneurial spirit that is alive and well in our students!”

Why It Matters

  • Inspiring Innovation: Students gain critical skills in creativity, problem-solving, and pitching.

  • Building Community: Connecting students with industry leaders and mentors.

  • Shaping Futures: Prizes support student ventures or college goals.

Student Support

Starting in January, interested students will be invited to participate in bi-monthly Business Boost Wednesdays for after-school mentorship, creative workshops, and tools to fuel their entrepreneurial spirit

As part of this process, students will also benefit from professional support and entrepreneurial skill-building outside of the school.
