CDH Center for Digital Storytelling Opens

Cretin-Derham Hall is thrilled to share the exciting news of the opening of our new Center for Digital Storytelling, made possible by a STEM grant from MINNDEPENDENT. This initiative represents a significant step forward in our commitment to providing innovative educational opportunities for both students and teachers alike.

Our CDH Center for Digital Storytelling is equipped with state-of-the-art resources to support our teachers’ instructional practices and help engage students in additional learning experiences. Mona Passman, CDH Principal, expressed her enthusiasm about the program, saying "This center is a valuable addition to our STEAM programming and commitment to Multiple Intelligences."

Resources available in the room include:

• Editing Space: Editing station equipped with the latest software for crafting and refining digital stories.

• Green Screen: A professional green screen setup for creating immersive backgrounds and settings for video productions.

• Video Cameras: High-quality video cameras available for capturing footage with clarity and precision.

• Professional Lighting: Box lighting on stands for professional quality images and videos. 

• Interview Chairs: Comfortable chairs set up specifically for conducting interviews and discussions.

• Lapel Mics for iPads: Lapel microphones are compatible with iPads to ensure clear audio capture during recordings.

Resources can be leveraged for:

• Documentary Production: Guide students in creating compelling documentaries on relevant curriculum topics, from research to final editing.

• Podcast Production: Incorporate podcasting into teaching to enhance communication and storytelling skills.

• Social Media Training: Learn to use social media platforms effectively to amplify student voices and showcase classroom activities.

• Multimedia Presentations: Create engaging multimedia presentations combining text, images, audio, and video for dynamic lessons and conferences.
