CDH Focuses on Parking and Traffic Flow Enforcement
January 9, 2019
Cretin-Derham Hall is proud of our long history with Holy Spirit Catholic Church and School. They are absolutely wonderful neighbors! We are also concerned about the safety of both CDH and Holy Spirit students and families during the school day because Albert Street can be challenging during drop-off and pick up times.
The following information has been shared with all students and parent/guardians.
DID YOU KNOW:
The lot off Albert Street in front of the Activity Doors/Field House belongs to Holy Spirit and they generously allow CDH students, faculty and visitors to use that lot Monday - Friday, from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. This is an amazing partnership, which provides significantly improved parking options for our community.
The smaller lot next between their church and our varsity baseball fields is exclusively for Holy Spirit so that their parishioners have parking available during the day for Mass, meetings and other events. No CDH parking (students, parents, faculty/staff, visitors) should ever be in the lot next to our varsity baseball fields.
In order to be better neighbors and improve safety for all on our campus, please note the following protocols CDH is enforcing in 2019:
Parking
- No CDH parking will be allowed in the Holy Spirit lot next to the varsity baseball fields.
- No CDH student parking will be allowed in the Activity Doors/Field House lot Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. This lot is reserved for faculty and staff.
‘Illegal’ Parking Consequences
- Starting January 21, any CDH cars (students, parents, faculty/staff, visitors) which park in the Holy Spirit lot next to baseball fields on Monday - Friday from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., will be subject to a ‘boot’ on their wheels which will not be removed until the offender talks to CDH administration. A ‘boot’ renders the car undrivable until removed.
Student Drop-Offs
- Families need to quickly drop-off their student and pull away to avoid congestion.
- There will be no access into CDH from Randolph Avenue through the Holy Spirit lot.
- On Albert Street, please drop off students at the Activity Doors entrance and follow the traffic flow described in next section.
- On Hamline Avenue, please use the circular Theater entrance. This is an underutilized drop off zone and is very convenient, quick and safe.
Traffic Flow
- Cars entering from the north on Albert Street will turn left into the Activity Center lot. They will proceed down the first row for student drop off and exit back onto Albert Street.
- Cars entering the south on Albert Street will turn right into the Activity Center lot. They will proceed down the second row for student drop off and exit through the Holy Spirit lot onto Randolph.
- Drivers are going far too fast within our campus lots. Please slow down.
Parking Monitors
- CDH will increase personnel to monitor the parking lots. Please follow their direction.
Signage
- New signage to support the traffic flow and the parking restrictions will be posted in the coming months.
We appreciate your support in being good neighbors to Holy Spirit and the residents around our campus, as well as keeping our streets and parking lots safe.
If you have any questions, please contact Jerry Kline at 651-696-3369 or jkline@c-dh.org.
