CDH Student Offers His Tasty Treats in Cafeteria
October 10, 2018
Homecoming featured out-of-uniform themes and fun lunchtime activities such as Bingo. There were also special treats available during the lunch periods, including one student who operates his own business and sold the locally popular, Max Cakes, as a featured treat.Max Karas ’20 sold his delicious and always-popular Max Cakes at lunch on October 2. Max Cakes are no ordinary cakes—they are very special donut ice cream sandwiches!
Owner Karas has been selling his Max Cakes for three years now.
“When I was 14, I introduced Max Cakes to the marketplace. Max Cakes is a creation I developed after tasting a bakery item filled with ice cream on a trip to Chicago," explained Karas. "After one taste, I thought I could improve on the concept and started a business selling my cakes at graduation parties and other private gatherings.”
Karas has grown his business to include a larger menu, including chili dogs, nachos, and cookies. But his signature product, “a gourmet donut ice cream sandwich made up of a delicious vanilla ice cream, sandwiched inside a fresh long john donut, and iced in chocolate,” is still very popular with his classmates and many other clients.
