This summer, Cretin-Derham Hall is excited to welcome Megan Smith ’00 as Alumni Relations and Events Coordinator. Smith is a familiar face at CDH, serving as Alumni Board President from 2016-2020, a long-term substitute English teacher in 2020, and Head Coach of the Girls Golf Team since 2019.

“My goal is to help the CDH alumni community continue to collaborate, promote, and honor the good news of the school and its students, staff, faculty, and legacy,” said Smith.

“As I transition into my new role as the Alumni Relations and Events Coordinator, I’m enthusiastic to leverage my previous academic and professional experiences to engage alumni and build new networking avenues to connect the CDH community through the Advancement Office,” said Smith. “It is a unique opportunity to serve as a resource to strengthen our alumni community.”

Smith brings both a passion for alumni relations and love of education.  She has a Bachelor of Arts in English, Master of Arts in English, and Master of Art in Teaching - English Education Program. “My experiences in a variety of academic settings promote intellectual curiosity and support a holistic understanding of cultural fluency and diversity beyond the classroom that I’m excited to bring to CDH Advancement,” said Smith.

In addition to her educational background, Smith also has experience as Program Manager at the University of St. Thomas from 2007 to 2015, where she was responsible for departmental research compilation, statistical analysis, and data interpretation with the Opus College of Business and the Office for Mission.

She is thrilled to be back at her alma mater.  “My formative experiences occurred at CDH in a community of people that were supportive and nurturing. It was an experience I continued to look for in college and the workplace,” said Smith.

Smith lives with her husband Wally, children Colin and Fiona, and two goldendoodles named Bauer and Louie. In her free time she loves coaching, competing, playing golf with family and friends, and reading.
