CDH Welcomes Sean Van Gemert '96 as Director of Admissions

Sean Van Gemert ’96 has been named Director of Admissions at Cretin-Derham Hall. He is not only an alum with deep passion for the school, he brings a high level of sales, analysis, and strategic thinking to the position, honed throughout a successful 20-year career in business. Most recently, Van Gemert was a Senior Vice President at UBS Wealth Management. He has been involved with CDH on various levels since he graduated, most recently as a Class Representative and a member of the CDH Alumni Association. 

As Director of Admissions, Van Gemert will be responsible for enrollment management and the promotion of Cretin-Derham Hall to prospective students and families. 

“I’m thrilled and honored to be coming back to CDH, a school that has positively impacted my life and many others,” said Van Gemert. “Our teachers, students, families, and alumni provide a truly unique educational experience that is second to none. We, as a CDH community, have so much to offer young adults and their families, I’m grateful for the opportunity to share our story.”

President Frank Miley is excited to welcome Van Gemert to the Admissions team. “Sean already knows and loves Cretin-Derham Hall. His passion for telling our school’s story to young men and women and their families is contagious, plus his strategic approach will help position our school strongly for continued and long-term enrollment success as well.”

He will fill the position being left by Tony Leseman ’01, who has taken a new position at Mauer Automotive Group, starting in September. “Tony’s impact on CDH cannot be overstated,” said Miley.  “He was the face of our school to literally thousands of new students and families since he took the role in 2011. He had a way of welcoming our new students with authentic gusto and provided a realistic overview of all our school has to offer. He stayed in contact with our students throughout their four years at CDH and beyond – Tony will be greatly missed, and we wish him only the best in his new endeavor!”

Van Gemert will officially start at Cretin-Derham Hall in late August.
