Celebrating Hispanic Heritage
September 27, 2021
Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 to October 15. At Cretin-Derham Hall, we celebrated last week during Community Time on Friday, September 24.
The Hispanic Heritage month was organized by a group of students working with Crystal Flint, our Student Advocate.
The ceremony opened with a prayer sung by Señor Lombardi and his Spanish V class. Then, Maria Zago '22 gave a presentation on the Bilinguial Education Movement prepared by Adamari Vargas-Jimenez '23.
Dance group Los Alegres Bailadores, which includes Jazmin Glaser Kelly '08, performed.
Then, a group of students shared a skit on the importance of not pre-judging people that you meet. They also shared a slideshow of CDH students/faculty/staff with Hispanic roots, to show the diversity of people with Hispanic heritage.
Señora Quesada Cerdas closed the event with a poem reading.
Our next Heritage event will be the Native American Heritage Celebration on November 19.
