Editors in a variety of categories have been chosen for the 2017-18 Chronicle, the student newspaper club led by advisors, Ms. Julie Quinn Kiernan and Ms. Christina DeVos.
Executive Editors: Megan Commers and Katie Schearer
Managing Editor: Abraham Teuber
Art Director: Jack Tierney
News Editor: Linda Johnson
Features Editor: Troy Gleason
Photo Editor: Molly Roberge.
All of these students will be seniors this fall.
Every one of these new leaders is ready to take on their new roles. When asked about his main goal for the Chronicle, newly named Managing Editor Abraham Teuber said he really wants to make it more accessible to the student body and have a greater variety of writers. If possible, he thinks it would be very cool to have an online version of the paper to offer another outlet for students to get the latest issue.
Art Director Jack Tierney said that students should have more of a say in what is written. He thinks that student submissions about topics, or issues, they prefer would be a better way to generate articles than just the staff choosing topics they wish to write about. He hopes this will be a great way to make the newspaper more student involved, and more fun for everyone to read.
News Editor Linda Johnson is going to make it her mission to keep readers up to date on all the current news out there, including world news. She also would like to see more diversity in the Chronicle with news relating to different races and cultures. She would love to expand articles written about heritage month to groups such as Native Americans, Asians and Pacific Islanders.
Executive Editors Katie Schearer and Megan Commers will be working hard to maintain the strong school newspaper and expand the editorial content. To do this, Megan would like to incorporate more serious topics outside of CDH. She is also encouraging controversial articles, and hopes they might promote more discussion among the student body about topics pertinent to students.
Katie wants to incorporate more photography, potentially creating a separate subcommittee that will assign events or people for photography coverage.
They both agree that they hope "to make the Chronicle more inclusive for everyone!" They welcome anyone who wants to join the staff at the Chronicle: underclassman, upperclassman, new writers, staff writers, photographers!
