Co-Curriculars Offer Exciting Academic Competition Opportunities
February 13, 2018
Knowledge Bowl
Knowledge Bowl participants compete against 32 high schools in three meets over a three-week period. Students are in teams of four and play against two other teams in three oral matches of 40 questions. There is a written round as well with questions covering everything from math, science, and history to geography. Social studies teacher, Kevin Flynn'99, was on the CDH Knowledge Bowl team that won state twice.
Academic World Quest
Last year, CDH participated for the first time in Academic World Quest hosted by Ecolab. Students are given ten topics in advance and compete in teams of four to answer questions for a chance to participate in a national meet in Washington, D.C. Some of this year’s topics are ASEAN at 50, NAFTA, India’s Bid for Global Power, Cybersecurity, and Current Events. The meet was held at Coffman Union at the University of Minnesota on February 7.
If you are interested in competing in either of these groups, please contact Ms. Ruth Johnson at rjohnson@c-dh.org. There are multiple opportunities to participate in academic competitions ranging from Science Olympiad to Math Team. More information can be found on the Activities page.
