Cretin-Derham Hall Welcomes President Jeb Myers with All-School Mass and BBQ
September 3, 2023
Jeb Myers was officially installed as President of Cretin-Derham Hall on August 29 at the opening all-school Mass. The installation Mass, celebrated by CDH Chaplain Father Pat Kennedy ‘69, officially welcomed Myers as president and blessed the start of the new school year with new and returning students, faculty, and staff.
This Mass signified an important moment that brought together the entire school, our sponsors, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and the Christian Brothers, members of the CDH community, along with friends and family of Myers, to officially welcome our new president, the fourth president in Cretin-Derham Hall history.
The day began with prayer. Brother Robert Smith, FSC '72 voiced the community's hopeful anticipation for Jeb Myers' leadership, recognizing his deep commitment to Catholic education and the rich traditions of Cretin-Derham Hall. Sister Christine Ludwig, CSJ shared a prayer of joy for the new academic year, welcoming new students, faculty, staff, and the new president. She prayed for all members of this community, past, present, and to come, for their shared vision and their “extraordinary generosity, passion, and relentless love of God and of the Dear Neighbor.”
Board Chair Maria Wagner Reamer ’82 shared her gratitude for the impactful leadership of CDH. “This moment is possible because of the important role and leadership of past presidents Dick Engler, Frank Miley and interim president Teri McCloughan, in making CDH what it is today, and allowing President Myers to enter this mission-driven institution of learning, to shape CDH for its future.”
Celebrating Together with a BBQ
Following Mass, President Myers joined the rest of the school at a BBQ, where he helped serve a picnic lunch to students in the cafeteria. He took this opportunity to meet students and connect with them as the school year began.
"The community has been welcoming and the CDH pride is very inspiring," said Myers. "I am looking forward to being a part of a community focused on students finding their place and being successful. CDH is thriving!"
When asked about the new president, it was clear that the students were left with a positive impression. They shared many comments, including “I think he's nice,” “'He's super easy to talk to,” and “he’s pretty fun, pretty energetic, and I think he'll make this a better place.”
