As we head into the winter sports season, let’s take a moment to celebrate some key highlights from the fall season.

The boys and girls soccer teams both welcomed new coaches. Annie Mulcahy ’24 led the girls program earning All-Conference, All-State and was named a Ms. Soccer Minnesota finalist. Mulcahy will play D1 soccer next season at Illinois State University. The Raiders Boys Soccer team finished the season with an overall record of 14-2-4 and was a mainstay in the state’s top 10 rankings. Both of the Raiders losses were to Stillwater. Liam Hafenbrack ’24 and Luke Madden ’24 were both named to the all-state teams.

The Boys and Girls Cross Country team continues to show great improvement throughout the year and is preparing for their sectional meet at Highland National Golf Course. Standouts on the team this year are Fox Galioto ’26 and Abby Chestovich ’26. Chestovich looks to return to the state tournament for the 2nd consecutive year.

The Girls Swim and Dive Team has had a tremendous year thus far with more to come. Last weekend they finished 6th in the True Team State Meet. The sectional meet will take place next week at the Two Rivers Aquatic Center where CDH will battle Visitation for the section championship. The state meet will be held at the University of Minnesota in mid-November. Congratulations to Izzy Macheel ’24 and Molly Magnuson ’24 on their commitments to the University of Vermont and Seattle University respectively.

CDH Athletes of the Week

At Cretin-Derham Hall for the first time ever, we would like to recognize our student-athletes whose effort, desire, sacrifice and contribution has made a difference to their team, coaches and teammates throughout the week. Unlike most recognition awards, these nominations represent much more than just personal achievement on the field or court of play. Great teams have players willing to take on new roles and support others for the greater good. By being a recipient of this award, the player has demonstrated great character, leads by example, has a willingness to put others first and has made sacrifices or other valuable contributions to the success of their team that is not always recognized.

The winners of the award thus far:

Week 1 -  Fox Galioto '26 and Abby Chestovich '26 - Cross Country

Week 2 -  Annie Mulcahy '24 - Girls Soccer

Week 3 - Liam Hafenbrack '24 - Boys Soccer

Week 4 -  Jaylen Gayles '24 - Football

Week 5 - Elena Kronschnabel '25 - Girls Soccer

Week 6 - Avery Hackbarth '24 - Volleyball
