Food Drive for St. Kate's Food Insecurity Project
Co-Sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet
and the Brothers of the Christian Schools
(651) 690-2443
By Abigail Aanonsen’18, Service Committee student co-leader for the drive
"Cretin-Derham Hall held its annual Food Drive February 20-28, and it was a great success. This was the first year that CDH donated its collections to the University of Catherine’s Food Insecurity Program. This program works to provide food and toiletries to students at St. Kate's who cannot afford it otherwise. This program is specifically connected with the Sisters of St. Joesph, so it was a great opportunity to give back to the Sisters for all they have done for our community. On March 1, we were able to bring three carloads full of donations, and completely fill up the food pantry at St. Kate’s. A special thanks to all who donated and helped contribute to our Food Drive’s success!"
Service Committee student leaders for the drive, Abby Aanonsen’18 and Rory King’19, kept track of the donations from each CASA House. The four Families with the most donations won pizza parties.
Congratulations to the following Families for earning a pizza party:
Mr. Gleich/Ms. Zobitz
, Mr. Beithon/Ms. Watson, Mr. Polus/Ms. Strauss,
Mr. Miley/Ms. Ye/Ms. Wadell.

Cretin-Derham Hall’s 24th annual Empty Bowls event brought together students, local businesses, and community members to raise over $6,000 for Heifer International in support of ending hunger and promoting sustainable living.
This year’s festivities included building gingerbread houses, playing games, reading stories, singing songs, visiting Santa, and sharing gifts with the children.
On November 24, twelve Cretin-Derham Hall students, along with chaperones Brock Beithon and Ruth Johnson, embarked on a week-long justice education trip to San Lucas, Guatemala.
