Dance Team
By Ali Pendergrass, Coach
Hello!
Coach Alison and I just got off a call with all of the CDH coaches, as well as Mr. Archer. We have received the green light from MSHSL to host our summer dance workshop at CDH starting Monday June 15!
A few changes to our summer dance game plan:
We will be extending practices by 30 minutes. Monday/Wednesday 5-6:30, Tuesday/Thursday 4-5:30
New Cost: $100 (can bring to practice or Venmo coach Sarah)
*If you do not feel comfortable attending practice in person, we will have a zoom feed set up for you, please contact Coach Ali if you would like to attend virtually.
*We are pivoting each and every day on this, there is a small chance we may need to adjust practice times, we will contact you all ASAP if we need to make changes.
Raiders Edge is also available starting June 15! We would LOVE for any dancers who are able to attend Raiders Edge, we have seen a HUGE impact that strength training has made on our dancer athletes the last few seasons. PLEASE SIGN UP ASAP online (by end of this week if possible)! If enough dancers sign up, they will put you in a “pod” together.
You are required to follow the protocols each and every day that you enter CDH. Please read the attachments carefully so that you are aware of these policies. Also, please make sure to print, sign and bring the COVID release form on the first day that you attend practice.
Please reach out with any questions.

JROTC
Summer is a time to recharge. We want all of you to have a wonderful summer and stay well. Starting with the opening of next school year, our JROTC program will have a brand new curriculum. It is updated, more media-friendly, and will be even more engaging than before. It will be an exciting time.
In August, we will again be doing uniform fitting. This will be an opportunity for the incoming 9th graders to get their uniforms, and current students to exchange items that may not fit.
Members of the class of 2021 who are considering military scholarships should be working over the summer to complete their applications online. Those interested in military service should be getting online to see how to do correct military pushups, pull-ups, and sit-ups, then practice, practice, PRACTICE by doing more and MORE repetitions. Become comfortable running 2 – 5 miles. ROTC scholarships pay for tuition, fees, books, and up to $16,000 in allowances over four years. Institutions such as St. Thomas, St. John’s, and Marquette add room and board to these scholarships to make them “full-rides.” The Academies all provide free tuition, room, board, uniforms, and a generous stipend. Early application means earlier consideration and notification of results. Please understand that there is a military service obligation as a commissioned officer following graduation from college ROTC or an Academy. All the service academies and ROTC have clear checklists on their websites. Follow those and you will succeed. If you have questions, please contact us with questions.

After the awards were given, students were able to watch our virtual production of “Holiday Inn: A Social Distance Musical.” This film will be released to the public at a later date, so please keep an eye on our website for the release date. It’s an amazing piece of work that highlights the show and the talented actors and crew leaders involved. Kudos to our choreographer, Jake Hermann, for all his editing work. We are excited to show the film to our wider community.
The gathering ended with a beautiful tribute to EVERY senior that has participated in theater over the last four years. 9th – 11th graders submitted testimonials about each senior and how their presence helped build community. This year’s group of theater students deserved something extra special and the rest of the theater students did such a beautiful job shedding light on their specialness. We will miss you, class of 2020. We’re looking forward to hearing how you light your next stage.
