Boys Basketball
By Tony Yazbeck, Assistant Coach
The Boys Basketball team just completed their regular season with a big victory over the #4 ranked team in the state Minnetonka 82-71. In that game, Tre Holloman ’22 became the school's all-time leading scorer surpassing the record of 2,004 career points held by Daniel Oturu ’18. Holloman currently has 2,020 career points as we head into the postseason.
Holloman also became the 3rd player in state history to score over 2,000 points and have over 1,000 assists, 600 rebounds, and 400 assists. A truly remarkable achievement!
Holloman and Donavhan Cain ’22 have also been selected to play in the MBCA All-Star Game on April 9 at East Ridge High School.
The Raiders will open up section play today when we host St. Paul Central at the Joe Mauer Field House. Tip-off is 7 pm.
Boys Tennis

Track and Field
By Chris Babcock, Head Coach
Boys and Girls Track and Field is just around the corner. Find your spikes, throwing shoes, and can-do attitude and join us for the 2022 season! We will begin practices at 9:30 am in the Fitness Center on Monday, March 14, and continue throughout spring break.
Track and Field is a sport that is much more than running. With 18 events there is something for every student-athlete. If you need to work on your strength, agility, balance, and/or coordination, the throwing and jumping events will help you to improve in those areas.
Of course, there is running too. What sport doesn't require at least some running? As a high school soccer player, I found the middle distance events really helped my speed and endurance on the soccer field. Hockey players too can benefit from and contribute to this sport. Our boys' school record holder in the 1600m and 3200m was also a hockey player. We have had successful athletes from wrestling and basketball too.
Track and Field meets give individuals the opportunity to showcase their talents, work on improving them, and contribute to the team score. There are even teams within our team; relays. Some of the most rewarding races I have run were relay races. There truly is something for everyone to do on the track and field team.
If you have questions, or want some workouts to do over spring break so you can join the team ready to go after break, contact coach Chris Babock at cbabcock@c-dh.org or in person in room FH012 before school during flex or after school.
Softball
By Aaron Vail, Head Coach
Our new staff and I can not wait to start! Our first practice date is March 14 and we will run tryouts officially on Monday and Tuesday, March 21 and 22 following Spring Break. The Varsity schedule is highlighted by 18 SEC conference games, still the strongest in the state. Our two non-conference games this year are vs. Baldwin-Woodville (WI), who took 2nd at the WIAA State Tournament last year, and an improved Two Rivers squad. This is a tough slate intentionally gearing us up for another Class 3A Section Championship & State Tournament run.
We are led by six outstanding seniors, two of whom, Anna Caruso ’22 and Sammy Muetzel ’22, have been named as program captains. We will have a full slate of games this year at the JV, B Squad & 9th Grade levels, with 20 percent more attendees at this year's preseason meeting than participants last year! Go Raiders!
Dance Competition
By Ali Pendergrass, Head Coach
The dance team had a fun and successful end to the season! Sections were at North Branch High School where varsity jazz took 4th place and varsity kick took 5th. JV had a great end to their season as well, placing 2nd in both jazz and kick at the Mounds View Invitational. Congrats to Olivia Hunt ’22, Julianne Mason ’22, Annie Noyes ’22, and Rezza Sevenich ’23 for making the All-State Dance Team!
Although the season is over, there are many more upcoming opportunities for dancers! We are offering after-school conditioning and technique with Coach Alison. There will also be spring tryouts held on May 9 and after school conditioning with Coach B. Dancers of all backgrounds and skill levels are encouraged to attend spring conditioning and tryouts!

CDH Education Fair
Our annual CDH Education Fair is scheduled to be back in person this year! On Tuesday, April 5, we will host college admissions representatives in the Joe Mauer Gym. Students and families are invited to come explore college options, meet college representatives and get their questions answered. This open house event will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 pm and a list of attending colleges will be available prior to the event.
April ACT for Juniors
Juniors will be taking the ACT (no writing) on Tuesday, April 5. Students do not need to sign up for the test, as all juniors will be registered by CDH. The cost of the test is $48 and will be billed to the student's tuition account. Please check your emails for additional information from Emily Kurmis, CDH School Counselor, at ekurmis@c-dh.org
Attention Seniors
Colleges will be sending you important information on admission, financial aid, housing, registration and orientation. Be sure to read and respond to your email. An enrollment deposit to the college of your choice is due by May 1.
A reminder to keep information on all your admissions decisions and financial aid awards. CDH will be surveying seniors in late April to collect this data.
Thank your teachers for your letters of recommendation. Remember that CDH teachers write hundreds of letters of recommendation for students as they apply to colleges and universities - over and above all the other responsibilities they have as classroom teachers and coaches. Please take a minute to thank them for this very important work that they do on your behalf.

JROTC
Following the successful completion of the Army Formal inspection in February the Raider Brigade closed out the 2nd Trimester planning and executing a historic battle to practice their followership and small-unit leadership skills during Leadership Lab. The cadets had a lot of fun, but more importantly, they continued to hone their skills and learn what it takes to successfully lead and motivate others, especially under fire, well Nerf gun fire at least.
As we step into the final trimester, the Brigade conducts a number of key events. We’ll start off the trimester with promotions for cadets who have proven themselves ready to move up to the next level of leadership and responsibility. In Leadership Lab, the brigade will be participating in the Best Platoon completion which will measure their mastery of knowledge on drill.
Earlier this month, thanks to the hard work and planning of Cadet Sofia Heer '22 and her fellow Diamond Officers, a large group of cadets completed their JROTC Service Learning Project by donating their time in support of Free Bikes 4 Kids. Free Bikes 4 Kids is a local non-profit whose mission is to create a happier and healthier childhood for kids by providing bikes to families and children in need.
Also kicking off this trimester the brigade, led by Cadet Adam Sewich '22, will implement plans for the brigade’s Continuous Improvement Project – a mentorship program designed by the brigade leadership to help pass down knowledge, lessons learned, and traditions from one class to the next.
Due to COVID, cadets could not participate in the Camp Ripley trip in September. However, we will seek to take a group of cadets to the BSA Base Camp to execute a Ropes Course at the end of March. Additionally, thanks to the support of the MN Air National Guard 133rd Airlift Wing, we hope to take the Flight Club on a C-130 Hercules flight in April or May.
The annual Military Ball will be held on April 22. The cadets will participate in the Twilight Parade on May 4. Finally, we will take a group of cadets to Camp Wilderness to participate in JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge June 1-5.
