Jeb Myers Announces Campaign for Raider Excellence

October 8, 2024

The Campaign for Raider Excellence - a capital campaign to ensure our student experience remains excellent and accessible to all students - was just launched this month.

President Jeb Myers stated, “Here is our commitment - a CDH education must be attainable for those families who seek our values.  The opportunities for today’s students will remain strong in our classrooms and beyond.  Plus, our facilities, fields, and equipment must keep up with our distinctively high level of participation we are proud of here at CDH.“

Myers pointed to the growing needs for financial assistance and why this is a significant focus for the campaign.  “CDH has always been a leader of accessibility to our quality education.  In many ways, financial assistance is the first step to joining the CDH community and the needs of our families continue to grow,” he explained.  “In the tradition of our founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and the Christian Brothers, we are committed to making a CDH education more affordable for those families who desire it.”

The student experience is also significant.  He pointed to the exceptionally high levels of participation at CDH in sports and co-curriculars.  At CDH, 93% of students participate in a sport and 98% participate in one or more co-curriculars.

“Our students have a place to belong, to hone their skills in whatever co-curricular opportunity that fuels their passion, and to make friends and build community,” he explained.  In Minnesota, which notably ranks 5th in the nation for participation in high school sports, the average is only 54%.  By comparison, our CDH participation rate is nearly double - that is the CDH way!”

Our Vision

CDH continues our proud legacy of ensuring Raider Excellence– excellence for the whole student – mind, body and soul.  We are dedicated to providing impactful opportunities for students to develop strong minds through our distinctive academic programs, the soul through our dedication to Catholic values, and the body through our strong athletic and JROTC tradition.

It is time to enhance our students’ experience and bolster enrollment by making critical improvements to our facilities, while following the tradition of our founders , the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and the Christian Brothers, by making a CDH education more affordable for those families who desire it.

This is no small feat, but with your help, we can ensure Raider excellence in both:

  • Supporting the financial needs of the students and their families who seek a CDH education through vital tuition assistance and merit scholarships.

  • The spaces that impact all our students during and after the school day.

Our Plan

Our needs are real!

Our commitment to tuition assistance and scholarships for our students remains vital.  Plus, we must address upgrades to the campus areas that are nearing the end of their functional life:

  • Joe Mauer Field House: replace floor and bleachers

  • Pat Dalton Fitness Center: update equipment

  • Wingerd Field: replace turf

  • Shrode Baseball Field and the Softball Field: new seating, batting cages, and dugouts

We have a good start!

Due to the generosity of our early donors, we have already raised 6.1 million of our $11 million goal and have completed the following improvements in September 2024:

  • Health and Wellness Facilities (Locker Rooms, Dance Studio/Multipurpose Room, Wrestling Room, Team Meeting Rooms and more)

  • Sound and structure updates to the Lillian Theater.

  • Multiple Restrooms

We ask for your support!

To achieve our campaign goals, Cretin-Derham Hall is inviting our entire community to make a gift to our Campaign for Raider Excellence.

On behalf of our CDH students, your past support for our Annual Appeal has been transformational.  Thank you!  We invite you to prayerfully consider making a meaningful pledge, a gift that is above your current support of Cretin-Derham Hall. This year, your annual gift will support the Campaign for Raider Excellence.

Your support will directly address the growing needs for tuition assistance and upgrade campus areas that are nearing the end of their functional life.  Your investment will impact current and future students as well as make our school competitive with peer institutions.

Please look for your invitation to participate in this comprehensive campaign.  We are grateful for your support.
