Letter from the Principal - December 2021

Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Advent/Christmas season is always a special time of year at CDH. I remain particularly grateful this year after there were so many limits on last year’s celebrations and gatherings.
There are moments when I feel discouraged as we continue to work around COVID-19 and Influenza A. I know I am not alone in this frustration. I invite you to join me in remembering that Advent is a season of hope and light and to rejoice in all that it brings. Personally, I experience a sense of calm and perspective whenever I am in darkness surrounded by Christmas lights. As I mentioned last year, St. Catherine University is beautiful during Christmas time. I encourage you to drive through their campus when you are leaving CDH some evening.
At CDH, the halls are filled with Advent Wreaths, Christmas trees, and students making plans for the break. Students are also fully participating in athletics, fine arts, and their new Trimester 2 courses. We have reason to be joyous, even as we experience the realities of the flu season, the continued pandemic, and required quarantines. The opportunity to be in community with our faculty and students throughout this season is a blessing I do not take for granted.
This Christmas break, I hope you all have the opportunity to spend time with loved ones, enjoy cherished traditions, and perhaps create new ones. I hope you have time to rejuvenate, to reflect, and to pray. I hope that you experience Christ’s love and the love of your friends and families.
I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Happy (and healthy!) New Year.
