Letter from the Principal - March 2025

March 10, 2025

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On Ash Wednesday, Christians throughout the world entered the liturgical season of Lent. This 40-day period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection includes prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. This year, our school prayer theme is from Micah: 6:6-8. During these 40 days of Lent, one of our campus ministers, Dr. Claire Bischoff, is emailing students and staff daily reflections from this passage. Parents and guardians, ask your student to forward this email reflection and prayer so you can join CDH on our journey to Easter.

The first full week of Lent falls during our spring break this year. This is a well-deserved break for teachers, staff, students, coaches, and parents.

Yes, the short 28-day month of February is in close competition with the 31-day month of May for a whirlwind of school activities.

In no particular order, the many February events included, but were not limited to:  Empty Bowls; championship parades for state-bound math, wrestling, gymnastics, and the girls' basketball teams; the heartbreaking end to the season for the ski team, girls' hockey, dance team, boys' hockey, and boys' swim and dive; SEC Music Festival, Band and Choir Winter concert, and the theater performance of Little Women; Knowledge Bowl, the Robotics Northern Lights Regional Competition, and Mock Trial; JROTC Upper Midwest Challenge and Military Ball; Chill Out Week; Sophomore retreat and Blessed Brother James Miller Feast Day; Minnesota Zoo Zooms STEM Design Challenge and History Day Regionals.  We also experienced a weather-related on-line learning day, Trimester 2 finals, and finally registration for the incoming class of 2029.  Check out many of these February stories in this issue of the Communicator!

For those of you new to CDH, it doesn’t slow down. When we return from break for Tri 3, our teachers, counselors, coaches, administrators, and other staff will work diligently to create a successful end to this school year, including relevant learning, activities, retreats, athletics, celebrations, Easter Mass, Award Ceremony, Junior ACT, AP Exams, prom, graduation, and so much more.

I pray that we remain faithful to this holy season of Lent amidst this busyness. What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8

Sincerely,

Mona Passman
