Letter From The Principal
Mona Passman, President
October 11, 2017
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are already half-way done with our first trimester and we look forward to seeing you at Parent Teacher Conferences. We have settled into the full rhythm of Cretin-Derham Hall and we want to acknowledge all the hard work and effort of our students, staff and parents. Thank you.
By the end of this week, we will have experienced two all school Masses, our Senior Women’s Retreat, our PFP retreat and our 9th Grade Retreats. We completed the 9th Grade MILS testing and All- School Testing. Our seniors have made their initial Senior Service site visits. Our community celebrated Homecoming with Raider pride. We have jumped into the start of athletic section play. JROTC begins our celebration of its centennial with Fall Review and Camp Ripley Weekend. We enjoyed Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration, Bandcake Breakfast, and our first choir concert. The Fall Play auditions were held and rehearsal for “One Man, Two Guvnors” is well underway. Many other clubs and activities have started. Our CASA families have met several times. Even our alumni have been back to campus many times, celebrating reunions and participating in special events with our students such as Alumni Leaders in the Classroom.
Our faculty, staff and students have accomplished all of this while maintaining a challenging academic environment.
With so much going on, students may begin to struggle academically, socially and behaviorally. The reality of juggling their full schedules, along with high academic expectations, can be overwhelming and may cause unhealthy stress or anxiety. Students need guidance and support from the adults in their lives to help them manage it all. It’s okay to limit their commitments, set curfews and bedtime guidelines, shut off technology and encourage time to play. Please do not hesitate to contact a school counselor if your student needs additional support. They will be available at conferences next week.
We are looking forward to seeing you at Parent-Teacher Conferences.
