The Seventh Veil of Salome by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
Ms. Strauss will gobble up anything Moreno-Garcia, a master of genre melding, publishes. This time, Moreno-Garcia takes on 1950s Hollywood, in the midst of the golden age, when sword and sandal epics were all the rage. Alternating voices, the novel focuses on the story of the making of a fictional Hollywood epic, the breaking of its Mexican ingenue starlet, and the tragedy of the biblical character herself.
Rigged for Murder by Jenifer LeClair
Alum LeClair is the author of the Windjammer books, and Rigged for Murder is the first mystery in the series. It introduces readers to Minneapolis homicide detective Brie Beaumont, who is escaping to Maine for a much needed break. She soon finds herself in the middle of a homicide investigation at sea, with a psychotic murderer on her tail.
Lone Women by Victor LaValle
Set in the harsh landscape of the isolated west this simmering horror suspense novel follows Adelaide Henry from California to Montana, dragging with her a mysterious steamer trunk and her terrible secret. Perfect for fans of horror, suspense, and westerns too!
