Ninth Grade Retreat Helps Build New Friendships
October 12, 2022
The Class of 2026 gathered on October 6 and 7 for a day of prayer, reflection, retreat, conversation, and play at St. Peter’s Church in Mendota. The ninth grade retreats gave our youngest students the chance to get to know one another and build new friendships. The theme of the retreats was "Love and Care for One Another as God Loves and Cares about You."
Throughout the day, several faculty and staff members, including Peter Gleich, Mark McGuire, Amy Bellus '90, Kim Royston '06, Joe Hutchins, Crystal Flint and Ken Udoibok '16, shared stories and offered guided discussion and prayer.
Senior and Junior Link Crew leaders modeled how to have fun through the icebreaker games. They also helped to break open important challenges confronting the newest high school students through the small groups they led and offered relevant, practical advice during the post-lunch Q&A panel.
The day-long retreat included time in small groups, stories from faculty and staff, a panel of senior students answering questions, and prayer. Students were also introduced to many of the opportunities available to them at CDH, including PFP, Student Advocates, Campus Ministry, and the wide range of clubs and activities.
At Cretin-Derham Hall, we take pride in creating a strong community where every student can feel at home. The ninth grade retreat is an important piece of helping every Raider start their high school experience on the right foot.
