Cretin-Derham Hall lost a valued member of our community this past week. It is with great sadness that we inform you that Assistant Athletic Director Kelley Hood died of natural causes on January 4, 2018. Please keep Kelley’s wife, Colleen and his family in your prayers during this difficult time. Kelley leaves behind daughter Kristen and her husband, Jordan Lindstedt and grandchildren Judah Kelley and Joy Elizabeth.
On Thursday evening, Kelley’s family contacted school officials when he failed to show up for a dinner appointment. His body was discovered on campus near his office and proper authorities were immediately contacted.
Kelley joined Cretin-Derham Hall in 2016 as Interim Athletic Director and has been a tremendous support to coaches and student-athletes during that time. “Kelley’s love of young people fueled his life’s work. His friendly, can-do attitude and commitment to high school athletics will be greatly missed,” said Phil Archer, Athletic Director. “Kelley has been a true team-mate and a friend to us all.”
Please see his obituary for more details on funeral arrangements which are scheduled for Thursday.
A memorial prayer service for Kelley Hood is also planned for students and staff on Monday upon their return from Christmas break. Counselors will be available to assist students and staff on Monday.
May he rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon him.
