The Parents Association Builds Community with Year-Round Events
April 9, 2025
The Parents' Association at CDH plays an essential role in building a strong and connected school community. Each month, dedicated parents come together to plan a variety of events that enhance the school experience and bring families together. These events include everything from providing meals for faculty/staff during conferences to Mother/Son dinners to the Senior Lock-in and much more. These events often become some of the most memorable moments of the school year.
Amy Perry, PA President, frequently hears just how meaningful these events are to families. “When I talk to other parents about the Parents Association, the number one comment is how special the events are.” she said.
According to PA Treasurer Renee Miller, the events organized by the PA reinforce CDH’s strong sense of community and reflect the very essence of what makes the school so special.
The PA is also a great way for new families to get involved and feel connected. “When my sons were freshmen, I volunteered for a few of the Parent’s Association events. It was a great way to start to get familiar with the school and meet new parents." said Alissa Salvato, current parent. "Later in the year, the opportunity to attend events like the Mother/Son evening only further enhanced this important community connection for our family.”
The Grandparents’ Association, a dedicated branch of the Parents’ Association, also plays an important role in the life of the school. They are spotted on campus throughout the year for many events, including "First Day of School Morning Donuts," "First Day of Exams fruit," Valentine's Day treats and more.
The Parents' Association is always eager to welcome new members. From the Father/Daughter Dance to the Silver Belle Ball, there are numerous opportunities for involvement. Interested individuals are encouraged to fill out this form to join in the community-building efforts and involvement doesn't have to end when your student graduates. "I love this community," said current parent, Colleen Ryan, "and will continue to help out however I can even after my children have graduated."
Exciting events are coming up, including the Mother/Son Dinner on April 12, the Faculty Staff Appreciation on April 16 and the Grandparents’ Mass on May 1. The Baccalaureate Brunch and Senior Lock-in on May 28 will help close out the academic year.
