Thank You for Your Generosity
The Parents’ Association gratefully thanks the many parents who donated time, food, beverages, and money in support of Teacher Appreciation during the winter trimester. Dinner was provided on the night of conferences with pizza from Skinner's Pub and donated salads and desserts. A few weeks later, the teachers and staff enjoyed a hot breakfast donated by Skinner's (thanks so much to Pete and Molly!) as well as lunch from El Burrito Mercado. Once again, many parents assisted with food, beverages, cash donations, volunteering time to set up, serve, and clean up. Special thanks to Skinner's Pub and Trader Joe’s for their generous donations.
88th Annual Father-Son Banquet an Evening of Fun!
The annual Father-Son Banquet, held February 25 at the University of St. Thomas, was a huge success!
The event featured a great pasta dinner and entertainment by Amye Scharlau. Amye is a local award-winning professional stage hypnotist, clinical hypnotist, hypnosis instructor, and keynote speaker. She introduced her audience to the world of comedy through hypnosis entertainment. She kept the audience engaged and entertained through the whole performance. Nearly 300 fathers, sons, and guardians attended the event this year. Mark your calendar for the 89th annual Father-Son Banquet, which will take place on February 24, 2019.
A big thank you to Michael Murray for capturing the event through his amazing photography and the Parents' Association volunteers for helping with the event.
Mother/Daughter Assault Prevention Training
Prepare for the sometimes dangerous realities of life beyond Cretin-Derham Hall. This training is based on the “Not Me!” book, written by Al Horner. It provides prevention information, tactics and tools to help avoid potentially dangerous situations. Topics include high-risk factors involved in assaults, who attacks, when and where they occur, and how to recognize the sequence of an assault to stop them early. The class also covers escape techniques from situations that cannot be avoided.
The class will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2018, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. in the Griep Family Gymnasium. Please enter through the Activity Center doors on Albert Street. Check-In will start at 12:15 p.m.
This class is for Mother/Daughter pairings from the Class of 2018 and 2019.
The fee to register is $10/person (normally $79/person, but offered at a reduced rate thanks to a CDH parent donation). Class size is limited to the first 50 mother/daughter duos or 100 individuals to register. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend with their mothers or another trusted female adult. The training is expected to fill fast, and registrations will be first-come, first-served. Register today.
