October 6, 2022
The Raider Brigade held its104th Fall Review on October 5. The Fall Review celebrates the anniversary of the first parade of the Corps of Cadets on Thanksgiving Day of 1918. That parade celebrated the end of the War in Europe and occurred shortly after the Corps of Cadets first appeared in uniform. This year's Corps of Cadets contains the largest percentage of CDH students since the 1980s.
Master Sergeant Ken Peloski, JROTC Instructor at CDH, talked about how the ceremony marks our founding and the acceptance of new students into the Corps of Cadets. "It is fitting to focus on our 9th grade class because they are so important to the future of our Raider Brigade. In the short time this class has been with us, it has distinguished itself through service, co-curricular involvement, a positive attitude, and an eagerness to get involved in JROTC and school activities."
Colonel Joe Scrocca, our Reviewing Officer, presented awards to freshmen cadets for their achievement in military drill, classroom conduct, and showing a high degree of motivation. The award consists of a medal, certificate of achievement, the Commendation Ribbon, and a distinctive black cord worn on the shoulder of the uniform.
The recipients of this award were Cadet PVT Ananya Alfveby, Cadet PVT Bridget Bower, Cadet PVT Lucy Keating, Cadet PVT Connor Macke, Cadet PVT Timothy Mohrland, Cadet PVT Kay Lee Perla and Cadet PVT Mackenzie Steineman.
Colonel Scrocca had some inspirational remarks for the award recipients. "Awardees, thank you for the outstanding effort you are already putting forth. The awards you received today are not only recognition of what you have achieved, but indicators of your future potential. Strive to be servant leaders of character, role models to those around you. Continue to make good choices, work hard, be trustworthy, respectful, empathetic and kind. Strive to be a better leader and citizen every day."
