Raider Teams Finish Winter Season Strong

Our Raider winter sports season ended with a strong finish!
Congratulations to the Gymnastics team who finished an incredible season with their first trip to the state tournament since 2010, finishing as state runner-up. With a new coach this season, they saw tremendous growth on many levels. Read this Star Tribune article about their path to the state tourney. Anna Lentz '25 qualified for the state tournament as an individual in the bars and the beam, Leah Dinardo and Delaney Cunnington qualified for the state tournament in All Around and Skylar McLeod ‘25 sang the National Anthem.
Matt Baumberger '24, representing the Raider Boys Swim and Dive team, qualified for his 4th state tournament berth. Matt competed at the MSHSL State Tournament at the Jean K Freeman Aquatic Center in the 200 m Individual Medley and the 100 m Butterfly. Matt finished 8th overall in the 100 m Butterfly that earned him All-State Honors.
Raider Wrestler Mickey Piazza ‘25 qualified for the MSHSL Wrestling Tournament at the Xcel Energy Center. Mickey competed in the 139 weight class and placed 8th overall.
Else Wermager '24 qualified for the Alpine Skiing state meet on February 7 at the sectional meet held at Wild Mountain. She elected not to participate so she could attend the school's Close Up trip in Washington DC.
Luna Cui '25 competed in the MN State High School Mathematics League State Tournament Invitational event on March 11. She represented CDH well.
The Boys Hockey team won the Section 3AA Championship for the 3rd consecutive year defeating St. Thomas Academy 3-1 to qualify for the MSHSL Class AA State Hockey Tournament. At the state tournament the Raiders took 3rd place with victories over Centennial 4-3 in double overtime and 6-3 over Grand Rapids in the 3rd place game. Max Anderson ’26 was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The CDH Girls Basketball team had a strong first round Section game beating Minneapolis South 61-29. Many players contributed to the success and Lauren Bengtson led scoring with 18 points. In the Section Semi-final game on March 2nd, the Raiders fell short losing to Como Park 56-55. The team battled back from a 13 pt deficit late in the second half with a chance to win. The Raiders finished the season with a record of 11-17. The girls overcame a lot of adversity along with multiple injuries throughout the season. I am so proud of the positive teamwork and culture the program felt throughout the season. We have a lot to be proud of and we hope to continue to build on this season into our summer workouts. We also had a lot of success within our lower level teams this season! Thanks to all the players and parents for their hard work and support this year! The CDH Girls Basketball team also had multiple players get recognition for SEC All Conference awards.

Boys Basketball finished the season with an impressive 25-6 record and won both the Suburban East Conference Championship with a 17-1 conference record and the Section 4AAAA Championship defeating Tartan 59-45. The Raiders qualified for their 16th MSHSL State Tournament and their 6th trip in the last 8 years. In the state quarterfinals the Raiders defeated #4 Farmington 57-56 on a Miles Bollinger ’24 three pointer with 30 seconds left. After a tough loss to #1 Wayzata in the state semifinals, the Raiders finished with a fourth place state finish. The Raiders had several post-season honors listed below:
