Rob Stupka STEAM Week Includes New Activities
November 10, 2023
The annual Rob Stupka STEAM week took place November 6 - 10. The week included a special ECO-STEAM CASA, a STEM Center Open House, a Middle School Camp and a ForTomorrow Mosaic.
CASA activities were an EcoSTEAM adventure to explore faith, ethics, service, and STEAM skills. Inspired by Pope Francis's "Laudate Deum," they delved into the world of eco-consciousness and examined Pope Francis's call to address the climate crisis.
The open house involved hands-on activities such as designing wind-powered cars, embarking on a Google Earth Climate Change Scavenger Hunt, solving eco-puzzles, creating eco-art, making native plant seed bombs, and engaging with robotics demonstrations courtesy of the CDH robotics team.
Eco-STEAM 3D Printing Camp for middle schoolers involved learning how to make cool things with 3D design in just 90 minutes.
The ForTomorrow Mosaic is a large-scale digital photo mosaic in honor of two beloved figures we lost too soon in our CDH community, Religion teacher Joe Moss and Rob Stupka III '02. This mosaic embodies our theme: Faith. Science. Action. Each tile in the mosaic represents a member of our CDH community, including students and teachers, coming together to honor Joe's legacy and Rob's invaluable contributions.
"Rob Stupka STEAM Week went great!" said Jeff Winsor, STEAM Center Supervisor. "We hope everyone learned something to make the world better. We offer a special thank you to the Stupka family who continues to support our STEAM efforts in memory of Rob Stupka III '02."
