Statement on Allegations Related to David Haas
June 16, 2020
It has recently come to our attention that David Haas, a liturgical composer and former part-time employee of Cretin-Derham Hall from 2011-2015, is under investigation for sexual misconduct.
We have received no reports of misconduct regarding David Haas from any students or adults.
David Haas was contracted part-time to provide liturgical music at Cretin-Derham Hall between August 2011 and June 2015. He also provided liturgical music for occasional Masses since that time, the latest was a Grandparents Mass in 2018. His role was focused solely on providing music for worship events organized by Campus Ministry. In addition, he occasionally hosted a Taize Prayer event using campus space, which was not a CDH event.
We are heartbroken to learn of these allegations and are deeply sorry for any victims of sexual misconduct. We are strongly committed to ensuring a safe environment for our students and staff at Cretin-Derham Hall and take all allegations of sexual misconduct very seriously.
Consistent with our policy, we have reported this issue to St. Paul Police. If you or anyone you know has concerns about their experience with David Haas while he was at CDH, please contact St. Paul Police at 651-291-1111 immediately. All suspicions of abuse should also be reported to the Archdiocese. Click here for links to important Archdiocesan resources.
