Strategic Planning Effort in Full Swing for Fall
August 28, 2019
The strategic planning process begun last year will culminate in several important steps this fall to finalize the drafting and approval of a CDH Strategic Plan. This plan will highlight new opportunities and address long-term challenges at CDH to guide the school for at least the next five years.
Over the past year, the focus areas for planning were divided into eight domains: Governance, Catholic Identity, Academics, Student Life, Facilities/Technology, Finance, Marketing/Enrollment, and Advancement/Communications. Leading the steering committee are chairs, Michael Cole '71 and Katie Weinberger Stewart '87. Each domain has volunteer leadership as well as a staff liaison(s) - see list below. The domains are responsible for gathering data about the school and education in general in order to best inform the analysis of strengths and challenges.
Many constituencies were invited to provide input via surveys.
"The input from our community has been vital to our process," explained Frank Miley, President. "The feedback is not just enlightening, it serves as an important data point as we look to the future, and we are very grateful for all who participated!"
Just last week during Faculty Workshops, the faculty and staff dedicated time to review our Mission and Values as part of this process. The Vision statement for the school was developed last year by the same group with input/support from the Board of Directors and has served as a guiding principle for the ongoing process.
In October, 60 people will gather for a weekend retreat to draft a plan based on nearly nine-months of work by the domains. By design, the retreat participants will include a broad swath of the CDH community, including alumni, parents, board leadership, priests and elementary school administration, faculty and staff. This retreat will be lead by planning consultants, Partners in Mission.
Once a plan is drafted, it will go to the CDH Board of Directors for approval later this winter.
Please continue to pray for the success of this process to establish a strategic plan that will lead CDH into the future.
