A team from Cretin-Derham Hall participated in the annual Hamline High School Analytics Competition at Hamline University on April 20, 2018. The students performed well and were named runners-up and awarded $50 in prize money.

This was the first competition of its kind for Minnesota and there are only two other colleges or universities in the nation that have coordinated such a competition for high school students.

What is the Hamline High School Business Analytics Competition?
The Hamline School of Business hosted its first annual high school analytics competition. This one-day competition, hosted on Hamline’s Saint Paul campus, invites teams from local high schools to dive into a data set and present their findings to local judges. No specific coursework or skill set is required, though knowledge of spreadsheet software and basic statistics is recommended. The competition is really about solving a puzzle, finding patterns that may not be obvious, and being able to “tell a story” about the data.
