Tackle Cancer Game is a Success
October 12, 2022
The Raider football team and Cretin-Derham Hall community celebrated the successful conclusion of our 2022 Tackle Cancer campaign. In addition to generous donations from the student-athletes, families, and community benefactors, parents of the football team sold “Tackle Cancer T-Shirts” at school for $15, which were completely sold out by Thursday afternoon! CDH raised nearly $3,000 for local cancer research and family assistance.
Cretin-Derham Hall is one of over 170 Minnesota high schools and college football programs that participate in the Tackle Cancer fundraising program, including the Minnesota Vikings.
Tackle Cancer is a joint effort of the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund and the Minnesota State High School Football Coaches Association. The Fund has a mission of supporting local cancer research projects and programs to improve the lives of those dealing with a cancer diagnosis.
“We should all be very proud of the leadership shown by our students, families, and community,” said Raiders head football coach Steve Walsh ’85. “Cancer affects almost everyone in some way. We want to do our part in fighting this terrible disease and help find a cure. This effort is a way to provide community support for those affected, and to fight back.”
