Tours of CDH Are In Demand This Year
December 13, 2022
CDH has been abuzz with groups of prospective 9th graders and transfer students touring the school! So far this year there have been 275+ interested families coming in to see what we're all about, almost double what we were seeing last year at this point.
The tour offers everyone a glimpse into our hallways, common spaces and classrooms. Along the way, the prospective families visit the Ryan STEM Center, Joe Mauer Field House, fitness center, the Lillian Theater, several fine arts classrooms and more. Students and parents have the opportunity to ask questions and talk to students and staff about their experiences.
"I want prospective families to see CDH in action, during the school day." says Sean Van Gemert '96, Director of Admissions. "Students are learning, teachers are teaching, and administrators are leading. I'm proud of all the dedicated CDH employees who serve our students each and every day. Prospective families need to witness this and it's my pleasure engaging with all the families who take time out of their day to spend with us."
The Grenardo family toured the school with their son recently and shared their thoughts on the experience.
"Our family loved touring CDH! Not only were the faculty and students energetic and inviting, we were able to meet future classmates and other families who will hopefully be friends for years to come.
As parents, we were able to witness learning in action in the classrooms. Students were engaged and teachers truly cared about the students. The top-notch facilities offer opportunities for my children to thrive in science and math, athletics, and various genres of the creative arts. CDH offered service opportunities and promoted our faith.
My son’s favorite time was when the parents were asked to leave. He was able to visit two afternoon classes with a high school junior. In a science class, they invited him to participate in a hands-on science experiment where he got to wear safety goggles and gloves. In a history class, he learned about the Boston Tea Party. When I picked him up, I could tell that he felt excited and relieved because he had found his new home - Cretin Derham Hall."

Tours will continue after the new year. If you know someone who wants to know more about CDH, share this link to schedule a tour!
