Two Weeks Into Online School, CDH Students Miss the Real Thing
April 1, 2020
On April 1 the Pioneer Press published an interesting article on CDH Online School. We are so pleased because it does a great job showing the dedication of our teachers and our students to relevant and engaging learning while illustrating the emotional loss of us being together. Our students miss school!
This front-page article was the result of several days’ effort on the part of Pioneer Press reporter Josh Verges who covers education. He spent time with our teachers, interviewed our principal, and sat in on two actual classes. He also had a chance to speak with the students in the classes after each session was done.
We are incredibly proud of our faculty. We believe this article helps to validate all the tremendous work they have put in so that our students’ academic experience is strong. It also points out that we are better when we are together, on many levels. Clearly, our value of community is important. Our teachers have not let the challenges get in the way of their commitment to our students, and it shows.
We want to give a huge shout-out to our students. They have been flexible and engaged as they learn to navigate this temporary reality. They are doing great work and finding ways to keep everything in balance. The reporter saw this in both the work they were discussing and the way they missed being on campus. We share their sense of loss at being together and will be the first to celebrate it when we can return to campus. We miss our students!
We will continue to update you on Online School but didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share some good news. Thank you!
