December 4, 2017
The Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association announced the recipients of the 2017 Academic All-State awards. Cretin-Derham Hall was proud to be the recipient of six honors: a team honor and five individual honors.
Team Academic All-State
Cretin-Derham Hall was named to the Class 6A Gold Team which requires the team to have a GPA of 3.75 or higher. Team GPA's are calculated using the ten highest cumulative and non-weighted GPA's from the team's section playoff roster.
Individual Academic All-State
Seniors Abby Aanonson'18, Elise Hitchcock'18, Livia Gans'18, Allie Hire'18, and Calista Weber'18 also received Academic All-State awards. To be eligible for this honor, the student must be a senior and have a cumulative GPA of 3.80 or higher for their entire high school career.
Head coach Ellen Schafer'10 comments, "I am very proud of these girls achieving high success on the court and in the classroom. We have one of the strongest conferences in the AAA class and for our players to be able to perform at such a high level every night and then get work done in the classroom the next day shows a testament of how CDH instills their values in all of their students. CDH truly builds strong students today to empower the world tomorrow."
