Welcoming Gabriella Douglas to CDH Science

December 16, 2021

Gabriella Douglas was a full-time substitute during Tri I and is now a full-time permanent Science teacher.

Where did you go to college and what was your major?
I graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Kinesiology.

What classes are you teaching?
I am currently teaching 9th-grade Science and Engineering, and Astronomy.

What do you love about teaching your subject?
I enjoy helping students develop a passion for learning through science. The process of asking questions about ourselves and our surroundings and searching for answers encourages creativity and open-minded thinking. It is a joy helping students grow and broaden their perspectives on life.

Why did you choose CDH?
The sense of community at CDH was a stand-out attribute for me. The teachers and administration here are dedicated to developing CDH students into great people rather than just great students. There is also an importance placed on the connection between staff and students, and the programs/learning resources at CDH have demonstrated this. I was especially drawn to the CASA program, which has significantly helped me get to know the students and staff here.

What should our community know about you outside of the classroom?
I have a passion for athletics and I believe that sports are a great way to bring communities of people together. Promoting equity in education and in sports is also a large part of who I am. I have created and worked on many diversity and inclusion initiatives, and I hope to continue to encourage growth and acceptance in my community.

Make sure to say hi to Ms. Douglas if you see her around school!
