Mission and Values

We strive to build a community based on our values, focused on our mission, and preserving our vision.

Our Mission

Cretin-Derham Hall is a Catholic co-educational high school, co-sponsored by the Brothers of the Christian Schools and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, committed to Christian values and academic excellence in grades nine through twelve. We will educate young men and women of diverse abilities, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds for post-secondary education and life.

Our Values

Our values guide our daily actions and focus our efforts in creating ethical students who are prepared for the world.

CATHOLIC – CDH embodies the charisms and spirituality of the Christian Brothers and Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Created in the image of Christ, we live out our faith in service to God and the dear neighbor. We are firmly grounded in Gospel values and Catholic doctrine and strive to deepen our relationship with God, self, others, and creation through worship, prayer, study, sacraments, and service.

ACADEMIC – CDH delivers an exceptional academic program that includes a challenging and comprehensive curriculum inspired by innovative teaching. We create a learning environment committed to critical thinking, multiple intelligences, skill mastery, creativity, communication, curiosity, and lifelong learning.

COMMUNITY – CDH embraces the sacredness of all people. We value our relationships with God, self, others, and creation. We nurture these relationships with dignity, respect, and love to cultivate an environment where people belong, thrive, and create lasting connections.

LEADERSHIP – CDH builds leadership capacity by modeling and teaching key principles. We focus on integrity, character, empathy, accountability, trust, and courage to prepare students for responsible citizenship and ethical leadership in service to Church and society.

SERVICE – CDH accepts the call to love God and the dear neighbor without distinction. We respond 'to the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor' by integrating justice and service into the curriculum and providing many other opportunities to work together in pursuit of the common good.

DIVERSITY – CDH believes that every person is created in the image and likeness of God. As a community of faith, we foster an inclusive and welcoming environment that celebrates the rich diversity of humanity and prepares our students to live and work in a diverse and interdependent world.

EQUITY – CDH creates an environment that respects the dignity of all individuals. We nurture each person's innate gifts, recognize their individual needs, and provide the support necessary for students to succeed and flourish. We uphold each person's dignity and expect that each person will be treated with respect.
