Boys Volleyball Club Starts Strong with Enthusiastic Participation

April 10, 2024

Practices have begun for the newly established CDH Boys Volleyball Club. With around 15 committed student-athletes, the club is diligently preparing for their first games.

Reflecting on the club's early progress, Nick Ahrendt '27 said, "The season is going really well so far. We are all working at different levels, but when we come together to play, we all perform like seasoned players. I'm proud to be a part of it."

For Keyon Archer '25, the allure of volleyball extends beyond the game itself. "I've always enjoyed playing volleyball in gym class, so when the opportunity arose to participate in a real sport, it piqued my interest. Additionally, any club or sport at CDH presents an amazing opportunity to forge relationships. Ultimately, it's a win-win situation where you not only enhance your skills but also build connections."

Coach Ellen Schafer '10 is excited about leading the first-ever boys volleyball team at CDH. "Most players on the team have never played before, so it's incredibly fulfilling for me to start with them at the basics and witness their growth. I'm eager to see their progress from the first game of the season to the last."

This spring, the team will be competing in a club league as preparation for potentially making volleyball an official sport in the MSHSL next year. Coach Ellen's goal is to instill a passion for the sport within the team, inspiring them to encourage others to join in the future.
